Home Subcommitees Injury Prevention

Purpose:

The Northeast Colorado RETAC must develop and maintain prevention-oriented environments fostering innovated solutions for their community and health care providers. The Injury Prevention subcommittee of the NCRETAC will be responsible for working with the hospitals and EMS agencies within the RETAC on developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention activities. It will also be the responsibility of this subcommittee to request grant applications from agencies on a yearly basis, review applications, and award funds to each county as well as collect and summarize evaluation data for a year-end report.

Funding:

The Northeast Colorado RETAC has allocated $1,800 per county per year to develop and maintain prevention programs based on local needs.

Guidelines for Funding:

  • Projects must describe how the Northeast Colorado RETAC will be publicly identified as a recognized program designed to help promote prevention efforts.
  • Projects can include medical as well as trauma prevention activities.
  • Funds may be used as “seed” money to fund future prevention projects.
  • County EMTS plans must identify prevention project in goals and objectives in local county EMT plans
  • Counties without EMS Councils must demonstrate collaboration with other hospitals/EMS agencies on how the funds will be used
  • End of project reports shall be required for future funding due within 2 months of project completion.
